DIAGNOSTIC BREAST ULTRASOUND
It is recommended that all women with any complaint of breast must get an ultrasound scan of both breasts. It is harmless and can be done many times unlike mammogram which uses x-ray so must be done annually.
Usually, we suggest sonomammography (i.e. mammogram followed by ultrasound breast at the same time) to all women above the age of 40 years. If there is family history or any other risk factor then annual screening starting at the age of 35 is recommended.
